16 weeks to Spring!

Isn't this beautiful?
Cleve West is an inspiration!  I can't afford the £250,000 he spent on the winning Chelsea garden but I can afford some of these plants ... I've even GOT a few of these plants!  When it is cold and wet outside it is lovely to browse the internet and plan for Spring.  (Elaine at A Woman of the Soil tells me it is only16 weeks away ... I'm already counting too!) My Mailbox is full of cheap bulb offers this week and I was tempted but I had to visit B&Q and found their bulbs on offer.  I came back with loads of tulips, alliums and daffodils ... and yes, I chose the orange, purple and white ones ... I can dream!

I also purchased two large Chrysanthemums for £1 each ...they are brightening up the front door at the moment .... and a Red Banana plant!  It was a bargain (£1) but I have never grown anything quite so delicate before!  No idea where I am going to put it or how to care for it but I have the internet!  I'll get back to you on that one.

The weekend weather was glorious but it didn't manage to dry up the puddles on our lane!  At least someone likes the pot-holes!

  1. Every day that passes is one day closer to spring! I get sucked in by bulb/seed/plant catalogs every winter and end up ordering stuff I have no room for. This year I'm going to TRY to be good! LOVE the photo of the beautiful tree in the 2nd picture. :o)

    1. In the past I have browsed the catalogues and bought on a whim with no thought for where I will put it. This blog has made me take photos: I now have a record and I can actually plan what to buy - I've never done that before!

  2. And here we also have boring grey weather, than I really long to spring. But first we get December, which I like and may be we can skate in January, I hope so otherwise the 16 weeks are still a long way.

    1. Skating SOUNDS fun but I always end up on the floor! Warm fire and a good book will do for me.

  3. I love Cleve West's designs, which seem almost achievable, but I am sure that the plants he chose wouldn't all flower at the same time in a normal world and we would be left disappointed. The garden in early spring is my favourite time and I always love to see the first bulbs coming through. But, sadly, we have to get through the Christmas period first, as I get older I look forward to it less and less.

    1. Must admit I am always glad when Christmas Day arrives then it's too late - the shops are shut! I have got a copy of Delia's Christmas book so planning a PROPER feast this year ... well that's the plan!!
