Squashed Pumpkins

I have memories of carving a toothy grin in a pumpkin when the kids were little.  It was a messy affair, nothing like this creation from the Martha Stewart website. It looks lovely and must have taken ages.

Some friends have been showing off their skills too:

We passed a table full of pumpkins on the drive back from Norfolk last week.  The farmer was charging 50p but I didn't want one then!  Knew I should have stopped!

One of the books in the cottage at Norfolk was the Sarah Raven's Garden Cookbook.  I rarely cook but looking at the recipes I was quite taken in by what we SHOULD be eating.  Andy contacted Amazon so Sarah was waiting for me when we got back home!

Tonight we made Squash and Cumin soup.  Delicious!

    1. I manage day to day stuff but mention REAL cooking and I start to twitch! Andy has to cook if we have guests - I make the best soggy rice you have ever tasted and famously forgot to add flour to a cake! Recently I have started to learn and I am quite enjoying the experience.

  2. I just came along your blog and saw the lovely carved pumpkins. Than I saw you have the Sarah Raven cookbook, I bought it 2 months ago and love reading it, but have not used a recipe yet. I always use my eldest dirty cookbook, I´m used to it and that feels safe. Have read a lot of your posts and shall follow you, I like it.

    1. Welcome and thanks very much. One of the great things I like about blogging is connecting with people from all over the world - you never know, it might encourage me to learn a new language one day but I will stick to learning to cook for now!
I like the misty photographs on your blog :)
